Transitioning Your Jewelry Into Winter

Transitioning Your Jewelry Into Winter

While I enjoyed the unseasonably warm autumn we’ve had, I know that winter is right around the corner. Here in NYC, jewelers are already filling their shops with glamorous picks perfect for the cooler months. And even though I’m not looking forward to the harsh cold air and inevitable blizzards, I am excited to bring out my winter wardrobe and begin transitioning my jewelry to the new season. I love getting creative with my accessories at this time of year, so I’ve put together 3 tips for transitioning your jewelry from fall to winter.

Go Glam

It’s hard not to associate winter with the glamor of the holiday season, especially in New York City. I consider my personal style to be quite classic, so I always gravitate to darker outfits in the winter. Since I prefer that timeless look, I want my jewelry to really pop. You can achieve this look by pairing your little black dress with a bright diamond bracelet, like the Zig Zag Diamond Tennis Bracelet.

I don’t know about you, but during the holidays I like to get into the spirit with some bright and festive jewel tones and bold statement pieces. Other New York jewelers would agree that during this season, more is more, so deep tones like Ruby reds, emerald greens, and sapphire blues are some of my favourite stones to add depth and vibrance to your celebratory look. Working within the same set of tones also helps to keep a look more neutral if that’s more your style. To give you some (early) inspiration, the MY STORY The Ivy Saphhire Pair Earrings are an easy way to set the mood for the holidays.

Mirror Nature

Winter may have its drawbacks, but there’s no denying that it’s one of the most beautiful times of the year. If you pause to look around, you’ll find that there’s endless inspiration in nature during this season.

When the leaves on the ground form a frost, I like to keep myself frosty by adding a pavé piece like the Diamond Pavé Bar Bracelet. After a fresh snowfall, a set of pearls emulate the glistening flakes. Generally speaking, winter’s cool, icy tones inspire me to shine, too, so I often find myself reaching for silver pieces at this time of year.

Work With Your Wardrobe

When it comes to transitional jewelry, you’ll find it easier to work with your wardrobe than against it. Since I love using jewelry to brighten up my winter wardrobe, there’s nothing better than drawing attention to my outfit by pairing a long chain necklace, like the Luna Skye Diamond Bezel Lariat with a heathered gray cozy turtleneck. This look creates a stunning line that elongates the neck by drawing the eye upwards.

With everyone bundled up, I adore the look of a bright necklace peeking out from the collar of a warm wool jacket, revealing a bold bracelet over a long-sleeve shirt when the jacket comes off, or showing off a chic stack of rings when you pull your gloves off. So sexy!

Whether you’re dreading the cold weather or you’re counting down the days to wear your favorite winter coat, it’s a time to lean into the elegance and sparkle of the season. The jewelry you wear can add vibrancy to your wardrobe. Remember that there are no rules when it comes to accessorizing, but the jewelry you wear can add vibrancy to your wardrobe.
